Its been months and no updates... wow. What have I been up to ? Well have come to the conclusion that I now need a new CPU. I am trying to run too may devices off my USB ports. They are, GPS, mobile phone for connection to the nets traffic reports, remote, touch screen and the hub its self. Because of this and the fact its slower now with all of this running I plan to build a newer faster unit which probably will also be a full size Mini ATX system. For this I will need a new 150w Opus as well so it wont be cheap.
To do all of this I have had to upgrade several items of software. The first is that I am using Roadrunner as the front end.... so I ported my skin over for that. ( Check it out here ). Its an ideal replacement for any body using MediaCar which now seems to be slightly dead. Secondly I now use my mobile via Phone.net. I really do suggest you get this programme. It allows you to control you phone via Bluetooth and cable and even act as a hands free kit, what's more most of the major front ends are adopting it as quick as possible. I have been luck enough to be able to see some of the pre-release 1.4 versions and all I can say its worth the money - please support Zorro and go buy it. Doing so gives you exclusive access to the forums. I managed to complete a matching skin for 1.4 so you may want to look even more. I have created some external files for this prog which I will be uploading soon as well as a skin creation tutorial. ( PS MP3car members get a discount ).
Stevig from the Digital-car forums has managed to help me with an updated version of his Mediaweb programme. This allows any body to access WebPages at a touch of a button via a nice interface. As its an external program you can use it any where.
You can see some pictures here that I posted late one night on the VVOC forum.
Another major issue in the CarPC world also got solved recently - that of a legal version of the Destinator DLL for use with map monkey etc. If you buy the PPC version and then the SDK you receive or can request the required DLL which is not locked down. So far there is no indication of extra functions but I do this or some thing similar continues for the next version, and I also hope TMC is in there some where as well.
Lastly - if you are going to the 2nd UK National Meet on the 2nd and 3rd of April 2005 you will be able to meet me and my system in person... you never know I may give you a few personal tips. A full report and pics will be available as soon as I get the time :)
