Bus Vannin chiefs have made their first move to replace drivers due to strike during TT fortnight.The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has launched a recruitment drive with an appeal to all drivers with a Public Passenger Vehicles - PPV - licence who are willing to work.

Inspirational sporting event for youngsters underway

One thousand children have begun a day of friendly competition in 13 different sports at the Island's biggest annual sporting event for young people, the HSBC Manx Youth Games.The outdoor opening ceremony for the 12th Games at the National Sports Centre went ahead despite early fears it would be a wash-out due to forecast heavy rain.

Island hosts sound archive summit

  The annual British and Irish Sound Archive conference and training event is continuing on the Island today (18 May). Thirty delegates are attending the conference at the Manx Museum and taking a tour of the Manx Radio studios.Speakers include industry experts from the Science Museum and British Library as well as Paul Weatherall, Library and Archive officer and Roland Arden-Corris, AV Technician, both from Manx National Heritage, who will present a Manx case study of digitising sound archives.
