OMNE Is the new cable TV provider based out out of Scotland. The new network will run from the south of Glasgow through Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway, and from Carlisle across Cumbria to Lancaster and Morecambe. Taking less than three years to build, it'll eventually pass 325,000 homes plus 25,000 businesses and public sector organisations. Potentially, over 1 million people will be able to enjoy the benefits of real choice and more value in their telephone service, plus interactive digital TV with lots more channels and high speed Internet. Because it's broadband, the network can meet the needs of everyone who wants more reliable and cost-efficient communications, information and entertainment - today and in the years ahead. Once constructed they will be able to offer DTV channels, Interactive TV, PSTN ( Telephone ) connections and Broadband Internet connection at ( So I am told ) a guaranteed 512k speed. This page is to provide any one interested in further information, that been said if there is some thing missing you know about or is incorrect then drop me a line here.
As far as their PSTN phone features you get all the normal ones you would expect such as 141, 1471, call divert, call baring, reminder calls, quick dial memories etc but you all so get 'Caller Display' free ! Top that off with a second line for £6 its not a bad deal. The only downside is voice mail where they charge you for picking the message up as well as dropping it off.
A great source of information for all DTV systems and other stuff is here ( www.diginews.org ). Please have a look in, or if that's not to your taste join the OMNE Yahoo chat group.

Some administration on their own free will because their main backer pulled funding after the collapse of the ITV Digital / On Digital it was thought that it was the end of the line for the company. Recently they have started contacting all customers that have cable laid / or can have cable to their house from the OMNE network. The new backer bought OMNE for £4m it has been reported and have started changing the management structure. I believe from what I have read its a property management company which also owns another cable company. Click here to go to the new OMNE Tariffs & Services page to see what they are charging etc.... and sorry if it does not look that good because unfortunately that is how OMNE sent it to me....

Channel Listings |
OMNE have a vast range of channels available. OK Sky is quite good but the quality of the signal should be a lot better because of the band width. Click here to see the full channel listings for TV and radio.

All work has currently stopped due to OMNE Communications currently being under administration. The future for the company does not look bright but who knows what is going to happen.
Lancaster / Morecambe And Surrounding Areas
Currently OMNE are working on the White Lund Estate installing amplifiers ( So I believe ). Also they have completed most of the work in the Torrisholme area going towards the Rylands estate and are now in the main area of the village. New street equipment boxes and lines to houses can be seen. ( If any one knows the technical terms for this let me know. ) OMNE has featured in the local news recently explaining who and what they are as well as an article saying that they are paying for a full time council worker to inspect all road based work.
Work in the Bare area is now complete
Work has begun in the LA3/LA4 area of Morecambe / Westgate. They have nearly completed work on the recently built Barrett's est. and the areas surrounding the Banbury 24Hr garage, Dean Point and up to the new houses near the Vickers Trading est. and are now starting work on the old area of Westgate its self. Further to this they are now heading down Regent Rd heading towards Westend.
In Lancaster its self they are now on the final stages of cabling the South Halton and Beaumont areas and street markings have been spotted in the Halton village its self.
Work has begun in Hest Bank on the Costal road as well
Glasgow through Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway, and from Carlisle across Cumbria
I don't have much information about any where else yet but if I find out I will update this page. In the mean time here is a map of the planned areas from www.onmeuk.com
