Small World is the new
name for WightCable North which was the new name for the cable TV provider OMNE based out
of Scotland. The new network runs from the south of Glasgow through Ayrshire,
Dumfries and Galloway, and from Carlisle across Cumbria to Lancaster and
Morecambe. It will eventually pass 325,000
homes plus 25,000 businesses and public sector organisations. Potentially, over
1 million people will be able to enjoy the benefits of real choice and more
value in their telephone service, plus interactive digital TV with lots more
channels and high speed Internet. Because it's broadband based ( ie Fibre
connections / IP Digital based ), the network can meet
the needs of everyone who wants more reliable and cost-efficient communications,
information and entertainment - today and in the years ahead. Once constructed they will be able to offer
HD DTV
channels, Interactive TV, PSTN ( Telephone ) connections and Broadband Internet
connection from 512k to 30MB. This page is to

As far as their PSTN phone features you get all
the normal ones you would expect such as 141, 1471, call divert, call baring,
reminder calls, quick dial memories, caller display etc but you all so get free
phone calls in the Small World network and any geographical number.

Small World North was formed from the
remains of WightCable North / OMNE ( formally known as Cable & Telecom ) when it was bought
by the CLS group which also owns Wightcable' ( as in the Isle of Wight
). Although an increase in the network infrastructure was put on hold
its hoped that one day it will begin to build again to give more choice
to the people in this area. It is part of the

group of companies which is owned by

A: A digital box installed and connected to a cable phone line.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Digital TV packages cost from £4 per month when you take a phone line
subscription.
Q: Is payment by a one-off cost or by subscription?
A: Subscription - minimum 18 month contract.
Q: How is it installed?
A: Providing it is available in your area, a cable will be installed
underground from your street into your home. This will carry both your
telephone and TV services. A digital box is then fitted by a technician.
